From Declan’s first game of Fourths for the Swans, he immediately caught the eyes of spectators, coach’s and opposition with his speed, turning nothing into something and his ability to break into space. He has continued to develop and build on these traits and in his final year of Fourths, took out the club Best and Fairest award and finished in the top 10 PDFNL. Moving into the Thirds he has continued to take his footy to another level. He has developed his endurance levels which allows him to cover plenty of the ground from half forward and through the midfield. When forward, it’s panic stations for any opponent, with his lightning quick speed off the mark, a leap and long arm span that makes him a handful for any opposition, when playing a key position or just resting forward. This pre-season Dec impressed the senior coaching staff, with his commitment and rarely missing a training session. He showed his capabilities in the practice matches that he can match it with his presence with the big boys. This is reward for his dedication to footy, but only the beginning of an exciting future for him. We can’t wait to see Dec bring his magic to the senior side tomorrow, well done!
